Fire Force Season 2 Episode 22 Review
‘Plot of Extinction’ was a decent episode and it also had its good moments.
- The Trap set by the White Clad
I don’t know what the White Clad had in mind with their plan
of destruction, but it didn’t make much sense. Why were they trying to destroy
Tokyo Emp
- The Battle with Dr. Giovanni
Dr. Giovanni is a creepily Victorian styled character. First
he had turned his body into a mechanical mess which was very interesting to
see. But his madness has now driven to such a level where there are now insects
accumulated in his body which are ready to go any time. He gives Shinra insight
on the Adolla where he says only people who have seen Adolla can use Adolla
Link. This is where we get a new mystery as Shinra realises Lieutenant Konro
who had connected with him through the Adolla Link must have seen Adolla as
well. They might reveal what had happened with the Lieutenant in the next
episode.
Shinra using his super speed during the fight with Giovanni
was cool. The way Giovanni was kicked from one place to another was really
awesome to see. Arthur as usual does something that is not expected of him but
in the end he is Arthur. He literally turned off his mind in the fight so that
Giovanni couldn’t predict his moves. Underestimating Arthur is a huge mistake
at this point. He can be very useful when needed.
- Maki’s character development
The whole arc we see that Maki struggling as to whether she
should remain in the army or go back to the fire force. Whether she should accept
the decision made by her father or not. When the nether was going to explode
and the force needed a 2nd Generation Fire user to resolve the
situation, Maki enters the scene to take on her responsibilities as a member of
the fire force. She had to prove herself to her father and brother, that she is
a capable member and doesn’t need protecting. The character development that
was done here could have been done better. It felt that it happened in a very
quick way.
- Conclusion
It will be interesting to see what fire force does in the
upcoming final episodes. This wasn’t a bad episode. It had really good moments.
I’m curious to see what Dr. Giovanni does next time. Shinra’s quest to become a
hero continues. We got little more information about Adolla. The nether arc
concludes with this episode. Maki’s comeback to the situation could have been
better.
